today's my last day at the office. i'll be off for 15 days. and i still got many things to do now. in fact, we're already facing the january issue's deadline. i've got 3 more articles to be done while it's very hard for me to concentrate on doing those layouts, my mind seems to be already in bandung, watching my mother preparing the bridal room at my house.
i can't hardly wait for our honeymoon vacation! wisata kuliner and wisata tempo doeloe in Malang, then spending the sunny beach days in Bali and Lombok. wuhuuu. i've already took all of my day-offs, so we could have a loong looong vacation. i thought it would be perfect, no?
got to go now, see you guys at our wedding! :)
Malam pertama saya kebagian kamar VIP yang harganya Rp526.000,-/malam. Mahal. Tapi apa daya, kamar kelas 1 penuh semua.
Benar saja, baru 1 hari kerja, pulang kantor badan rasanya lemas tak berdaya, malamnya saya demam lagi. Oh, sedihnya. Keesokan harinya saya minta ijin tak masuk kantor, istirahat di rumah saja.
Weekend kemarin saya menghabiskan waktu di rumah Sami, sambil mengurus undangan dan souvenier pesta pernikahan kami nanti. Sedikit demi sedikit badan sudah kembali terasa normal, selera makan sudah membaik, makanpun jadi banyak lagi. Kalau kata orang Sunda: mamayu, keadaan setelah sakit yang maunya makan melulu, banyak pula.
Hari ini saya sudah masuk kerja lagi. Berita bagusnya, badan rasanya enak setelah mandi. Biasanya, duh.. greges-greges gimana gitu. Berita buruknya, kantor lagi hektik, deadline edisi akhir tahun. Habis sakit, badan harus langsung siap bekerja keras kembali. Huah!
1. Ketika Anda hanya berdua dengan orang tak dikenal, colek bahunya!
Kemudian anda pura-pura melihat ke tempat lain..
2. Tekan tombol lift kemudian Anda pura-pura kesetrum. Tersenyumlah
lalu.. ulangi lagi.
3. Gunakan HP Anda untuk menelpon seorang psikolog sambil bertanya apakah dia tahu Anda sekarang berada di lantai berapa?
And these are what i've got from the FoodSwap pool. I got these marvellous things from dopiaza. I've opened one of the choclate bars and the smoked almonds & cashews. Good they are! But I don't eat too many nuts, anykind of nuts, nowadays. So Sami and his parents finished eating them.
It's kinda fun and exciting doing food trading like this. But I need to spare some extra money for sending food outside Indonesia. Maybe we could do it not too often, maybe three times a year or so. Thanks to Asti for the lovely idea!
- Wake up earlier every morning,
- Spend more time in the kitchen, trying new recipes, bake more cakes and cookies, make more fresh juices and salad, cook my own breakfast, lunch and dinner,
- Go the gym more often. Attend either the Body Jam, Body Pump, Body Kick or the Yoga classes more often,
- Read more books,
- Create more accessories,
- Watch those DVDs I've bought for a long time, but haven't got a chance to watch them,
- Travel around to new places, both in and outside Jakarta.
Ah, I wish.. yeah, i wish I had much much much much more spare time.. Sigh.
I was busy all by myself the whole morning till the afternoon. Started by cleaning up my bedroom, did some laundry, packed some stuffs to be brought to Bandung, then went off to Plaza Indonesia, to order a Cheezy Choc Cake for my Aunt's Birthday on 5 September and had a quick lunch at Chopstix.
Then I went to the modiste at Pasar Tebet to pick up my wedding kebaya for the reception party later in November. I was soo happy that she had successfully made the kebaya as I'd ordered. Happy, happy.. :) *big smile*
After that, I had my hair styled at Remaja Salon, near Pasar Tebet. It took only about 30 minutes to have my hair done. Then I went back home, had a quick afternoon shower, put some make-up, packed some other stuffs, then finally went off to Rumah Alexandra–Kemang by taxi. I arrived there about 5 pm. Sami hadn't arrived yet, he was still somewhere.. everywhere, going here and there.. bla, bla, bla.. Meanwhile some of Sami's cousins had arrived, so I wasn't there by myself.
Anyway, Sami's parents were having the "Ngunduh Mantu" party for mas Adit & mbak Lely's wedding that night. They were giving a small party just for their close friends and relatives. I was dressed in a purple baju kurung, same as Sami's cousins and mbak Lely's sister.
Anyway, the party went OK. Mas Adit looked OK in that black tuxedo. He called himself as James Bond (!). Mbak Lely looked beautiful in the bronze kebaya and I liked how her hair was done. Too bad I didn't take pictures of them. My mind seemed to be everywhere, I didn't concentrate much and I didn't take much pictures. Gah, I guess it's because there were too many people and bussiness. I didn't manage to eat and walk around pretty much as I was on duty as one of the reception girls at the front desk. The hardest part was informing the guests about the wishing cards. Sigh. That was hard, hehe.*
My parents and my sister were there, too. They arrived at the party pretty early, about 6.40 pm. I didn't accompany them very much as I was, you know, busy with the wishing cards. I left the party at 8.45 pm, before the others, because I was going along with my parents back to Bandung. Mang Juju, my dad's driver, was a bit speeding along the highway. We arrived at my parents' house at about 10.30 pm, that means only 1.5 hours Jakarta–Bandung via Cipularang. Pretty fast.
Check out some pictures here .

After a facial care in the morning, I went to meet Tante Aam at her house in Cigadung–Bandung. Tante Aam will be my make-up artist (duh, perias pengantin apa ya in English) for my wedding. She will be taking care of my whole make-up, accessories, hair-done, kebaya, etc etc, including Sami's, his parents', his siblings', my parents' and my sister's (and her partner) needs. She will be also taking care of every single details for the Sundanese wedding ceremony. We discussed about some stuffs for almost 2 hours, mostly about the accessories and elements for the kebaya.
In the afternoon, I had some chit-chat with my sister, Tari, at Daily Bread, Jl. Ciliwung, Bandung. We were catching up each other with the latest news in our lives. After dinner at home, I went to Nini's house at Jl. Suniaraja. It'd been awhile since the last time I met her. Luckily, I found some interesting stuffs at her house for my wedding party decoration. Happy :)
Sunday, 4 September 2005
Went back to Jakarta by train. I finished reading Anais Nin's Artists and Models, one of the Pocket Penguin Books, Asti gave me the other day via her parents. I arrived at Gambir at 12 noon. Sami picked me up, then we went straightly to my office mate's wedding (Prita) at Duren Tiga.
After dropping some stuffs at home and changing my clothes with more comfortable ones, we went to Sami's place. I intended to help him moving to his new room. So we spend the whole afternoon full of dust. Huk. Huk.
After Maghrib, we went to Nezza's place to drop some clothes and other stuffs for the garage sale. Then off to Plaza Indonesia, picked the Cheezy Choc Cake, and had dinner at Sushi Tei. No pictures this time.
After a long craving for this toy, it's now finally in my arms. Hurah! Goodbye to the old PC.. don't get jealous of my new toy, ya? :D
I could now "work" peacefully at home and being wireless online at some hot-spots cafés and restaurants. Hahaha, are those the only reasons why i had been craving for this thing?
My first project with this toy is the wedding invitation layout. And guess what, the due date is this Saturday. My parents in Bandung had been asking for this every time I visit or even talk with them on the phone. Meanwhile I was very busy lately at the office, due to the September issue's deadline. Thank God it is now over. It was such an overwhelming issue and made me stayed overtime at the office for almost everyday in two weeks. Anyway, the invitation is almost done. It just needs a little touch-up here and there. I'm planning to finish it tonight. Hopefully my parents would love it.
One of our misions yesterday is looking for a pair of nice shoes and a matching bag. These items were a part of the 7 Seserahan packages, gifts given by the groom's family to the bride before the wedding ceremony. In our case, the Seserahan will be given on the engagement party, next mid-September. This is one of the rituals in a Sundanese and/or Javanese traditional weddings, symbolizes the groom's capability in supporting his wife's needs. Seserahan usually consists of 7 packages which are jewelries, wearables (clothes, shoes and bag), praying equipments (veil and mat), bed equipments (bedcover, bedsheet & pillowcases), a complete set of makeup, a complete set of toiletries, and edibles (fruit, etc). Nowadays, the bride tobe got a change to choose some of those items based on her own sense and personality.
Anyway, back to the shoe search. There were several shoe stores in that mall, but all of them are crowded. *sigh* My eyes made a quick browse through the aisles every time I jumped into a store. Once I found somethin' nice, I grabbed it, tried them on, then checked on the price tag. But none fitted me, except these Nine West pump. I love that shoe very much because of the vintage look. Too bad, just toooo bad.. the 6.5M nor the 7M size was sold out! Oh, gosh. Not only from that store, but from the whole stores in Jakarta. *sigh* So, I ended up with a pretty light purple kitten heels pointy pumps from Charles & Keith. But our mission wasn't complete yet, because we still couldn't find the matching bag. Dudududu..
And this is the view from the Blue Room's balcony. This field is usually occupied with guys playing football in the afternoons or on Sunday mornings. I don't know exactly where these guys are coming from. Actually, I don't really care. Hehe.
I just notice the lovely green field which is now very rare in Jakarta. I just hope this field would remain forever and noone would have a "bright" idea bulding a "beautiful" house nor malls up there. So these guys or perhaps their future kids could still play there happily ever after :D
My room used to be one of the guest-rooms (there were several empty bedrooms, function as guest-rooms) with a king-sized bed, a medium-sized cupboard filled with don't-know-whose stuffs, empty dirty white walls, and a small beauty station with a mirror.
My Auntie told me to decorate it so I would feel more comfortable staying in that room. I decided to paint 2 side of the walls into navy blue, and the others into bright white. I moved out the king-sized bed, and changed the bed into a single mattress instead. I feel more comfortable sleeping on a single mattress with no bed. I emptied the cupboard and changed it into my fashion cabinet. Then I decorated the beauty station's mirror with lots of pictures of my friends and family.
My Auntie bought me a TV while my Dad bought me a DVD player (hihiey!). And later on I bought a new stereo speaker to complete the small home (or room?) theatre. I also brought my PC station. So I could work at home. But the PC is getting old and works very slowly now. So now I'm thinking of buying a new computer. And I've been eyeing for a 12" powerbook! :D
Anyways, my stuffs keep on growing and growing from time to time. My room became messy for quite a time. But that was not quite long after I bought two extra cabinets to store my goodies: beads, accessories (I'm an accessories freak!), books, magazines, CDs and DVDs.
I love this room so much because it is such a comfy place to chill out after work or on weekends. There are so many things I could do in this room: watching DVDs and mini-series at StarWorldTV and Discovery Travel & Living, listening to CDs, working, drawing, making accessories, writing, and reading while drinking a cup of hot tea or chocolate. And I surely will miss the view to the green field in front of my Auntie's house, where some boys usually play soccer in the afternoons.
Ow I will miss this room :'(
These are some stuffs from the Blue Room, could you guess what they are?
I went to Bandung these past two weekends. Been busy doing this and that. Preparing this and that. Hunting this and that. Buying this and that. Meeting he and she. Wuhuo.. getting married means soooo maaaannyyy things to do!!!
What?! Getting married? Haha. Yes!! I AM getting MARRIED!! InsyaAllah. This year, in November. Hopefully, it's going tobe held in Bandung, my home-town.
The last two weekend, Sami and I intended to attend a friend's wedding party there, unfortunately we couldn't make it. Because we were still in Pasar Baru, hunting for lace material for my wedding dress and my big fam's dresses. But we could still manage to meet some of my college friends at Dakken coffee shop afterwards, although we arrived there very late. I missed the best part of that gathering, because 3 of my girl friends announced their engagements. Wow! Congratulations, girls! Hope we could make it successfully, ya? :)
Thanks to the brand new high-way road (tol Cipularang) which helped us so much in reaching Bandung much more faster now. So we do not have to worry if we have to ga back and forth Jakarta-Bandung preparing the wedding.
Note: The above pic was taken on Sunday morning, 12 June 05, around 7 o'clock, on my way to Bandung via Tol Cipularang.
Backsound: Night and Day, unknown artist.
I've doubled my vitamin C and milk consumption. I've also doubled my meals (teehee..). I've eaten more fruit and vegetables. But it didn't work. I still wake up in the morning feeling unhealthy. Oh, what'd happened to me? :(
Maybe I just need a very qualified sleep. A rest all day long in my room. Just sleep, sleep and sleep.. God, this headache is killing me.. Panadol might help but.. should I just start taking Amoxicillin 500mg 3 times a day?
I was just entering the fast lane of Jl HR Rasuna Said (Kuningan) with a normal speed. The traffic wasn't so crowded, so it was possible enough to speed up a bit. In front of me was a Mercedes. Driving fast-slowly-fast-slowly-fast. Very annoying. I was rather upset with that car. Seemed that the driver couldn't control its speed as well. I mean, we were both on the middle lane. As a good driver he should've known how to speed there, right? But I couldn't "warn" him/her because my horn didn't work. Oh well!
Then all of a sudden, the Mercedes stopped. Well.. ok.. there was a traffic-light. But it DID stop so SUDDENLY! I was extremely shocked. I automatically stepped on the break and swerved the wheel sharply to the left to avoid the Mercedes. The car became unsteady, turned more sharply to the left, almost 90 degrees, then hit the left road devider. Crash, boom, bang!!!!
God, i stopped breathing for a moment there. That was terrible. I just couldn't imagine if the car got upside down. Huaaaa..
Within 30 seconds, there were several men coming over me. Told me to get the car back into the normal position. People started to blow their horns because I was blocking their way. I got panicked, couldn't control my emotion. I felt that the wheel became as heavy as hell! One nice man helped me move the car. He told me that somethin' had broken, so that's why the steering wheel became heavy.
Then a tow truck came over offering his service. I didn't accept it, because I had some bad experience with illegal tow trucks. After a minute or so, I called Sami. Then I tried to drive slowly to the office. It was rather difficult because of the heavy wheel and it couldn't turn left. But at least I could reach the elementary school near my office and parked the car there, acrobatically.
In the afternoon, Sami came with 2 engineers to fix the car immediately on the spot. It didn't take long to have the car fixed. We left the place about 6 o'clock.
Phew. That was very traumatic. I am now rather paranoid being a passenger in Sami's car.. :(
Some kids in my neighbourhood made that in front of my auntie's house. It's like a huuuge painting on the street. Chalked with one colour. Red. Kinda reminds me of a subject (PSSR, stands for Pengantar Studi Seni Rupa~Introduction to Art Study) back in the uni. The lecturer, Prof. Dr. Primadi Tabrani, once told us about things behind children's drawings. Children's drawings usually contain the child's idea or imagination. They could also be "movie", narate things that happen lately in the child's life. And no matter how "weird" they are, we'd better appreciate them. Well, most people, especially parents still think that appropriate drawings are detailed realistic ones. So the sun MUST be yellow, it couldn't be pink. You know, that kinda stuff.
So, what do you think these kids are trying to say in their street drawing?
Hong Kong Sauce Chicken Rice Bowl+Lemon Chicken Rice Bowl
Had dinner at Rice Bowl, Plaza Semanggi with Sami, Tanti and Ario a few days ago. The promotion posters successfully made us go there. Well, the food looks good on it plus the prices were reasonable enough. But the dinner itself was not really successfull. Well, at least not as we'd imagined.
It was rather crowded when we got there. So we had to be rather speedy to get a proper table. And since no waiters helped us to have a table, we had to fight to get one. The waiter who got our order was friendly enough and had a fairy good product knowledge. But the service itself was a bit lousy. The other waiters weren't friendly and they were slow as hell. We were just asking for some chopsticks and an extra plate but they didn't react instantly. We had to ask for it over and over. And that was irritating enough.
Anyway, I had Hong Kong Sauce Chicken Rice Bowl, Rp10.000,- (not included 10% tax). While Sami had the "menu favorite" set menu which consisted of Lemon Chicken Rice Bowl, a bottle of mineral water, and a cup of Red Bean Ice Cream, Rp16.900,- (not included 10% tax). Tanti wasn't really hungry, so she shared Fish Fillet With Scrumbled Egg, Rp22.900,- (not included 10% tax) with Ario (who was officially in a diet). The rice bowls were not good. The rice was tooo dry. Sami and I couldn't stop drinking whilst chewing to help us swallowing it. Sami's Lemon Chicken was as hard as stone. No crispy at all. While my HK Sauce Chicken had no special taste, although it's more tender. The taste was fully helped by the chopped garlic spread over the chicken. I didn't taste the Fish Fillet because I had already lost my appetite. Tanti and Ario didn't have any comment of it. Seemed that they weren't satisfied enough. And how about the Red Bean Ice Cream? It was way tooo sweet! Giung edan!
Overall, IMHO not recommended. I wouldn't comeback even as a treat!
What so special of being 25?
Some might said that life actually begins at 25. While the others told me that a 25-year-old female is like roses in the springtime. Fresh, fully bloomed, great scented, and attractive. Ready tobe fertilized by a honeybee. Wihiey.. So the age of 25 must be a female's prime time of beauty and freshness, no? And since i'm reaching that age, i must be like a rose now. *wink wink*
Anyway, i was in Bandung on the day i turned out 25. And it was my Dad's birthday too. I've got a little present from my little sista with a cute card in it. Thank you so much, sista! :) And a blackforest birthday cake with a 25-candle on it for dessert from my parents after a casual dinner at home. Sami was also in Bandung. He had somethin different this year. Made me feel like there were tons of butterflies in my stomach :*)
And.. thank you all for the birthday wishes via sms, phone, emails, and egreetings. I feel very blessed that you guys still remembered my birthday. Love you all!
Happy 26th Anniversary, Mum and Dad. You both really inspire me :) Kisses and hugs. (Angki)
Angki, my lovely daughter, thank you very much. Big hugs too.. We will always love you..
Thank you very much. You're such a nice child. Be careful! See you. Love and kisses.
Now we're starting the new issue. Surely there would be still many things to do. The good news is now we have a new designer in our team. Hope he could quickly getting used to our system so we could loosen up a bit :)
These were taken when he was 5 days old at Echie's house.
While these were taken when he was 3 months old at my parents' house in Bandung.
2. Could got home by 6 o'clock
3. Got a chance to meet some friends after office hour
4. Nomat on Mondays
5. Got to face the fact: the less work she got to do, the more she will play with her hair. Dunno why this could be very annoying for me! (-doh!)
I regret for just letting go a great chance to take pictures with Al McKay and Michael Harris. They were walking in front of me and all I did was just standing still, watching them passing by. Silly me!
Anyway, those 2 days were supposed to be a perfect time for a little break from this city life. Unfortunately I didn’t go outside this city at all! But Sami and I still had a great time anyway. We had several culinary delights. Started by having our lunch on Wednesday at Pisa Café, Setiabudhi, which was offering 50% discount for all meal, drink and ice cream on the occasion of their grand opening. We both ate pasta with cream sauce and mix snack (calamari, onion ring, chicken nuggets and french fries with dip sauce). And we closed it with a cup of double-flavoured gelatoes each. I picked the tiramisu and oreo flavours, and Sami chose the pistachio and caramel ones.
On the next day, after furniture window-shopping at Puri Indah Mall, we had our lunch at the mall’s foodcourt. We intended to look for exotic meals, which weren’t common at other mall’s. I had a bowl of Go Mei’s Dried Chilli Chicken Rice, which was very yum. While Sami had a bowl of steaming Afung’s Original Meatballs Soup with kwetiaw and tofu, which was soo delicious. I would never forget the rich taste of the fried oily garlic in the soup mixed with the salted soy sauce, the sour taste of the Pontianak’s limes and vinegar chilli sauce. Mmm.. very delightful!
We also had a try on City Pao, which were sold at the Imlek’s Bazaar at the mall’s atrium. My sweet custard and cheese pao was rather strange because I’d found out that cheese and custard didn’t go very well with paos! But Sami’s chicken black pepper pao was good.
Along with the culinary fun, we also had an exciting ride on the mini roller coaster at the mall’s Fun City, then went swimming at Cilandak Sports Centre in the afternoon. The day before, we also went to the movies to watch Aviator.
And here are some pics taken on those days.
Anyway, Slipi Jaya 21 is one of the rare old-fashioned theatres in Jakarta. The tickets are only Rp20.000,-! While Rp12.500,- on Mondays. The interior, the seatings and the tickets are all oldies. Including the slideshow before the movie screening.
"Welcome to Slipi Theatre"
"Please be quiet! The show'll soon begin!"
It amazed me when she told me that she'd simply found my email address from a people finder search engine at the internet. She said that she'll try to search our other classmates by that search engine, too. Wow, internet could REALLY reunite long lost friends, huh?
So, pardon me if you'll find this blog mostly written in English now, because she'll be soon a regular visitor of this blog. Hello, Dafny! Very glad to meet you here! :)

All I can say is: goodbye 2004 and welcome 2005.
And these were what I wrote:
1. Be a better person: at home (both in Jakarta & Bandung), for my parents, my sister, the big family, my boyfriend (& his family). At the office and for my friends
2. Spend more time with my family in Bandung
3. Preparing my portfolio for applying Master programme. (This happened tobe my last year resolution, but it hadn't been accomplished yet! ..till now! Arghh..)
4. Read more about design and.. gourmet. And also starting to write about it!
5. Backpacking.. somewhere.. with my lovely lil' sis
Betul, no? *grinn*
