veggie stamp

i remember doing this when i was a child; making stamps by carving potatoes into letters or just simple shapes. to bring back that good memories, i tried to do some simple hand-printing with veggies on a linen, hoping to make new covers for the 12-month-journal

and this is the result when stamping with chinese cabbage's bottom. not bad. looks like a black rose to me :P
black rose

and this one was using a cut sin qua. looks bad to me, lol. it looks like a moon's surface or something like that :D
..no idea :))

i've tried to cover the journals with the 'black rose' pattern. take a look here ;)

sticking here and there

very much inspired by one of sibebo's post. creating tags and/or bookmarks with deco tapes, and lace tapes ;)

new way of saying

thank you :)
we received this from oma anna about a week ago.

looking good on nataya. adding to her hairpins collection :P

sibebo's flowers

to wear on eid mubarak day :)

i ordered them to wear on the eid mubarak day. the stripe blossom is for me while the roses are for nataya. after a loooong journey, they were finally in my arms ;) not to worry, it wasn't sibebo's fault nor the courier's, it was purely the error receiver :))

nataya's looking pretty in the rose, but she wore it only in the morning, as soon as we arrived the family gathering's place, she put it off :( and gave it to mommy. (see picture on the previous post)

trial, the rose matches the milk :D
this was a day before eid mubarak day, doing the trial, she wore it long enough :)

and these are our outfit on the day. how about it? does it look good on me? ;)

adding the tools collection

found this at the sports warehouse in a very interesting price. all i really wanted was the wooden needles :P
new tools

surprisingly this plastic hook and needles were sold here :)

the shawl and the earrings

done!

hurah! finally! nataya's wrap-shawl was done this morning :) i must say it was not that perfect, but i'm pretty happy with the result. this is my first big size piece after the tiny pieces such as the baby booties and caps.

nataya's booties
nataya's booties, 2006

to be honest, there were many mistakes here and there on the shawl. but i was too lazy to unknit and redo it :P cause i'm sure people won't notice anyway :D and it's actually a bit oversized for nataya, but still ok-laaa :P nataya seems to love wearing it. and that makes me much happier :)

we went to the mall this afternoon, and the main department store was holding this big sale event. i wasn't interested at first. and nothing seems to be good on the bag & shoes section. but when i was wandering around the accessories section, monet was cut up to 60%. whew.

so i decided to take these two :D
new new new!

21.1.10

crafty mood galoooore

nataya had a make-up class today because she was ill and absent last friday. since i have no lectures on thursdays, so i could do some me-time ;) at first i thought of going to the gym, but i'm thinking of doing something more interesting such as: shopping! :D

so i went for:
  • art supplies (watercolor & paper) at Yosiko (checked)
  • siputox -- for the overdosed snail on the frontyard (checked)
  • a birthday present for my father in law (checked)
  • knitting yarn (checked)

window-shopping at a large bookstore always makes me happy, and.. also.. POOR -sigh. the main purpose was buying A present for my father in law, but the 50% label on some other things was really attempting -sigh. so i made myself buying another birthday present (for a kid at nataya's school) and 4 photo frames. fiuh. plus a book about doing craft with your kids (Creative Play for your toddler, Christopher Clouder and Janni Nicol). gah.

after the book-store, i went to a mall where a batik bazaar is held. i thought of buying some batik fabrics for a friend as a farewell gift. but the batik tasik was so so so expensive, twice as much from the ones i bought at the last jawa barat craft expo, geez..

then i went to tobucil, looking for some yarn that match this wip shawl.

the previous store (craft & co) is running out of the first yarn and don't have any yarn that match.

luckily, tobucil have this purple yarn! yahooo! so i could finish this wip asap :) although it's a different kind from the first yarn -- a bit lighter and local (the first one is Korean -- 20,000 rupiahs per roll), but it's still ok and match laa.. ;) and i also bought a handmade knitting needle. both the yarn and the needle are 100% made in Bandung.

would the purple yarn match the wip?

tobucil has a wide range of local yarns (drrroool). plus they are cheaper from the previous store. only 10,000 rupiahs per roll. too bad i didn't take pictures. i was in a bit hurry because it was nearly time to pick nataya at school :P

oh i'm so in the mood for knitting now. too bad the illustration projects is the first point on today's to-do-list. i hope my watercoloring skill didn't fade away as time goes by.
